- On Saturday, around 4 p.m., a man stabbed several people in Austria.
- The event took place near the main square of Villach, a town 350 kilometers south of Vienna.
- A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least 5 other people were injured in the attack.
- The perpetrator is a 23-year-old Syrian with a residence permit. He was not yet known to the police.
- A witness, also of Syrian origin, hit the perpetrator with his car. He was arrested shortly after.
- Witnesses reported that he shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.
- The Austrian minister Gerhard Karner, has confirmed that the attack was “Islamist motivated” and linked to Islamic State.
- The perpetrator was allegedly radicalized on TikTok in a short period of time and followed a radical Islamist influencer.
